During the month of September everyone at Granite Start has been spending time getting to know each other and getting into the routine of everyday activities. The time has just flown by and we will have an equally busy October with activities and special events and field trips. If you haven’t noticed, my newsletter is not up to its usual “dressy” look, that’s because Miss Carolyn usually does an excellent job of making it very appealing and she is out on maternity leave. Yes, Harrison Michael Joseph was born on September 14th at almost 8 lbs and we are so happy for the Joseph family. Look for the newsletters to be back to normal next month.
Granite Start would like to welcome two new staff members to the infant rooms. Miss Shekinah Lacombe and Miss Jennifer Soucy. Both will work as assistants in Infant I and Infant II.
Field trips to Elwood Orchards will continue this month for the classes who have not yet gone.
Also, this month is Fire Prevention Month so we will have a Fire Truck visit Granite Start on October 10th as well as the Pre-K and Kindergarten visiting the Lake St. Fire Station on October 9th.
The Swimming Program at Atlantis will begin on October 11th for those children who have signed up. Additional permission forms as well as waivers will go home prior to the first day. The program will run for 8 weeks and end on December 6th.
We will be CLOSED on Monday, October 14th in observance of Columbus Day. That day was recognized on our calendar but due to a typographical error was not listed as a holiday. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
On October 15th and 17th the photographer from Clix will be here to take pictures of all the children and we think you will be pleased with the package prices as well as how wonderful the pictures come out. The photographer will be here and ready to go by 7:30 each day so if you would like to get sibling pictures here’s your chance.
Granite Starts second Family Halloween Get Together will be on Friday evening, October18th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. There will be games and crafts throughout the building so wear you Halloween costumes and be prepared to have a good time. There will be a sign up sheet for donations of goodies for everyone to enjoy.
Our annual Halloween Party and Parade will be on Thursday, October 31st and classrooms will have the chance to parade through Maplewood with their costumes and gather candy.
As I said, it’s going to be a busy month. We are also putting together our Calendar Fundraiser which will be going out this month. We have had some very generous donations already, but if you know of a company who would like to participate please let us know.
We are all looking forward to the wonderful fall weather and many new experiences both inside and outside.
